On May 3, the time had finally come: our new concert series in Katharinenkirche/Hauptwache started.
The program included string quartets by Mozart and Schubert, but also a piece for the rarely heard instrument duduk: the Armenian sacred chant Amen (Hayr Surb), with duduk soloist Mane Harutyunyan. (Video here)
Many people had found their way to the church around noon. After a welcome by orchestra director Bogdan Kisch, Roksolana Rakhletska stepped up to the microphone. She is the director of the Ukrainian Saturday School in Frankfurt, which is supported by the association "Ukrainian Association in Frankfurt e.V.". Ms. Rakhletska described her important work and the increased need: If usually 100 children go to the school, there are now over 600 registrations!
In order to meet this demand and to pay teachers, the association needs donations. We are happy to help. Over 1300 euros were collected at the first concert.
